About the Calgary Selects

The Calgary Selects Basketball Club offers advanced basketball players in grades six and up, a unique opportunity to expand their skills in a year round program. The Calgary Selects Program is developmental, including skill training, exhibition games, and tournament participation in Western Canada and the U.S. The season typically runs from September to August. Since forming in 1996 the program has established a track record of success both in grooming players to excel both in the sport and in life.

Mission Statement

Selects will provide an advanced environment to develop youth, so that they may become:

1) the best basketball players they can be and
2) the best young people they can be

The fundamentals of industry, cooperation, enthusiasm and enjoyment are the founding principles of the organization and each team.

Standard of Performance:

1) This means that Selects will provide a club atmosphere where the same sound basketball principles are taught from age to age and team to team. There will always be an emphasis on the fundamental skills of basketball, team work and team building.
2) Basketball provides an environment where boys can learn to become young men. It is understood that the organizations and the coaches are there to build each boys confidence, heart and character so that they may become their best selves.
